It is not unusual for people to get burnt out and fed up with what life serves them. While health and fitness experts would suggest ways to keep the body energized, no amount of food, exercise, and supplements can nourish an ailing spirit. Yet, during times when everything seems to be crumbling down around you, it is the spirit that will lift you up and get you back on your feet to deal with your challenges. Feeding your spirit is more important than feeding your body.
Here are some of the ways on how to become more spiritual :
Learn to meditate.
It is important to know how to get in touch with your spiritual self and connect with a higher deity. This allows you to lift your troubles up to one who is perceived to have control over everything in this world. Spending a few minutes every day in quiet meditation will help you nourish your spirit. A strong spirit will give you the power to push through all the hurdles strewn your way.
Live within your means.
Looking for things that you cannot afford will only foster negative emotions of envy and jealousy. These negative feelings draw you away from the more important things in life. These feelings will also hold you back from effective meditation and prayer. Be happy with what you have and living with things you can afford. The self-awareness and self-acceptance feed the spirit and make it stronger.
Charity should be sincere. Helping people is a way of giving back after you have received your own blessings. Sharing your blessings helps you realize that you are more fortunate than others. Feelings of gratitude and thanksgiving emanates from sincere giving. You do not even have to spend a lot of money to be charitable. Surely, it would not hurt to serve in the soup kitchen every month or perhaps volunteer as a Sunday school teacher every once in a while. Small acts of charity become big when they are done sincerely and with pure intentions.
Learn to endure because pain is not forever.
Instead of buckling down because of your trials, these challenges should prompt you to turn to your spiritual self. An enduring spirit will get you through these trials and allow you to rise above your hardships. Strengthen your spirituality and keep on moving forward. Soon enough, you will feel the pain easing up. Life will be better. You only have to trust God.
Pray for those who wish you ill.
You cannot please everybody. And you should not have to. Whenever there are people who wish you ill, say a little prayer for him. You do not have to let every negative comment thrown your way affect the way you live your life. Neither should you start harnessing negative feelings like hatred and anger. Stay in touch with your spiritual self and turn to prayer and meditation to banish these ill feelings.
Feeding your spirit not only involves learning to pray at any moment possible. Positive feelings about yourself also nourishes the spirit and makes you strong enough to live through all the good and bad things in life.
